Music Career - Managing a Career in the Music Industry
By James Blakely
I get emails daily of bands that are quitting the music business. It is always a sad fact of the music industry that not everyone can sustain a music career. Ending a band is always the hardest decision because it means giving up on your dreams.

Some of the bands I see breaking up were once top of the game. They were playing 5 nights a week. They had a fan base a thousand strong. So made them lose it?

The number one thing that I see hurt indie bands is the lack of management and communication. The group is not taken seriously enough to make the transition to a business. Band members have to much emotional equity built up into their art that they can't make sound business decisions. Management and communication are extremely necessary for you to have a career in the music industry.

Music careers are no different than any other business. As an indie artist you need to find tools that will help your success. There are many sites out there that help you further your music career. Sites like InsideSessions, PowerGig, and Tonos.com can all help you get your career in the music industry going. One site has an excellent tool for managing your music career, Indie-Music.com.

Indie-Music.com has a management application that will help you sustain your career in the music industry. For a $100 a year it gives you calendars and communication tools to make sure that your band is run like a business. It has information about labels, radio stations, venues, and other musician contacts.

The system is create just for the music industry. Since it is created for your needs, it has all the functionality and information you will need to sustain a music career.

As the Internet starts to grow out of its infancy, it will be a necessity for anyone with a music career. The tools that are available now are very powerful. I say be ahead of the game and keep your career in the music industry.
