Indie Music Showcases - How Do They Help Your Band
By James Blakely
Indie music showcases are a great way to get your band some exposure to the people in the music business that matter. You may gig for years and never get those industry people at your shows, but they are swarming at indie music showcases. Many indie bands have been discovered at these showcases.

They are a way to see what music others in your industry, at the same level as you, are producing. It is always a good idea for people to check out their peers no matter what industry you are in. These get togethers will give you a new outlook at your own music, and help you grow as a musician.

You can get excellent feedback from the industry about your music. Not only from bands from around the country, and sometimes from around the world, but recording industry people. The amount of knowledge you can gain from these events is enormous.

The NEMO Music Conference is a showcase that you should try to either play or attend. The NEMO showcase and conference will have many music industry decision makers that are excellent contacts. Whether you play or attend it will definitely open doors to industry contacts.

From the NEMO press release.
"NEMO will take place on September 4-7, 2003, taking advantage of Boston's warm Fall weather by adding outdoor events to the schedule. Music industry professionals and enthusiasts will converge on Boston for three days and nights, taking in panels, clinics, workshops, mentor sessions, a Trade Show exhibition area, industry parties, and 250 artist showcases. NEMO also includes the prestigious Boston Music Awards show on the first night of festivities.

NEMO showcases 250 of the hottest major label, indie label, and unsigned new bands and solo artists from all over the world in a wide variety of genres. Creating a unique platform for new talent to perform in front of some of the most influential decision-makers in the music industry (as well as almost 15,000 music-loving fans), NEMO is a celebration of today's best new music and continues to be the place for people to discover new and emerging talent."
Many bands have used the NEMO showcase to help their career. If you attend or perform it will help your career also. The entrance fee is a great investment for your future in the music industry. It is a must for people serious about a career in music.
