Everybody wants to have millions of hits to their web sites.
The problem, for most people, is your not sure how to get people to your site.
You tried getting in search engines, but you can't get any referrals.
Lets look at some ways to get your site those search engine referrals you want.
Can you imagine how many individual web pages there are on the internet?
Google has over 2 billion pages that are in its database.
How many pages does your site have?
If its less than 100 pages then your odds suck.
5 - 10 page sites have no real chance of exposure in search engines.
Only searchers who type in your name or url are going to find your page.
Out of the pages you do have, how many have 350 - 500 words of pure html text on them?
So many sites I see these days are either complete flash movies, or all of the content is on a picture.
This will kill your search engine rankings.
Search engines want lots of text to pull your keywords from.
Keywords are the terms a searcher queries the search engine with.
Here is an example of the keywords broken bottles on google.
If you have no text on the page, then your keywords are almost zero.
You might be thinking you can use the < meta keyword > tag.
Unfortunately most search engines, especially Google, are ignoring this tag.
You want to archive all of your past information.
It not only helps with your search engine rankings, but it helps give your band history.
Place your lyrics to your songs on your site.
There should be plenty of good keywords in your music.
Try not to make a web page that scrolls on forever.
Split that page up into a couple of pages
It will be easier for your visitor and for search engines.
Try to have pages that are between 350 - 1000 words.
If it is less than 350 words, then it may not be worthy of a page.
Over a thousand words and it is getting really full.
I try to stay in the 350 - 500 range.
You may think that splitting all your pages is too much work, but I can tell you it will be worth it.
When you start receiving more emails and more people go to your shows, the benefits out weigh the work.
